Do you usually do the water level measurement for your job or your personal need in your house? If you do then you would need the things that can help you to do the water level measurement. In this case, there are many measurement tools that you can use to do this.
The water level measurement is very important to do because there are many things that you can get form this. By doing the level measurement, you will be able to control the water level inside the tank. You will also be able to notice the water has reached the level that you want.
Moreover, the water level measurement that is done by a certain tool works in a certain pattern. The work of the measurement is not that simple. The work of the measurement is different with the measurement of the solid substances. This is because water and solid substances have different surfaces.
Generally, the water level measurement is applied in the surface of the water. In this matter, there are two of most common methods of taking stage measurements. The first method is using the area staff gauge. This is a vertical graduated marker that is established to visually estimate the water level.
The second method that is used to do the water level measurement is using the Automatic water level recorders. The recorders are installed in a stilling well to minimize the effects of turbulence or wave action. There are different options of level recorders that include a float recorder, a bubbler gauge and pressure transducers.
Furthermore, the work of those items will be described as follows. A float recorder in the water level measurement records the vertical movements of a float on the water surface. A bubbler gauge correlates the pressure required to force out nitrogen gas bubbles out of a tube with water level. Meanwhile, the pressure transducers measure hydrostatic pressure of the water.
Instead of surface water level measurement, there is also groundwater level measurement. In this case, the measurement is done by using a piezometer. A piezometer is a borehole designed to measure groundwater conditions at a single point within the aquifer. The groundwater potential at this point is reflected in the groundwater level within the casing of the piezometer.
Furthermore, there are different parts that work in groundwater level measurement within the piezometer. Plopper will make a plopping noise when it hits the groundwater surface. This is a concave metal casting attached to the graduated tape. The next is electrical sounder. This is a part where the insulated wires for a pair of electrodes are incorporated into a graduated flat tape that activates a light and/or buzzer. In this case, a circuit is completed when the electrodes come into contact with the groundwater surface.
There is also bubble tube. This is where a length of plastic tubing marked with depth increments is lowered down the piezometer when doing the water level measurement. Contact with the standing water is distinguished by blowing into the tube and listening for the sound of bubbles. In doing the groundwater level measurement, there are automatic water level recorders. They are similar to that those that are used in surface water bodies such as pressure transducers, or capacitance probes.
